Night Buses (Routes 101–106)

Friday & Saturday nights only (technically early Sat/Sun 01:20–03:45).
Not weekdays. Extra runs for big events (Menningarnótt, NYE).

No discounts — youth, seniors, students, disabled all pay full 690 ISK.
30-day & 1-year passes work. Day passes don't. No fare capping.

Not Hlemmur! Buses leave from Lækjartorg (by the parliament/nightlife). Three departures: 01:20, 02:25, 03:45. They don't wait.

Klapp app, plastic Klapp card, or contactless card/phone. Buy ticket in app when you see the bus — it expires in 75 min once activated.

Drivers leave exactly on time. Chaos at Lækjartorg after 2 AM — they won't wait for stragglers. Have your phone/card ready, know your route number, and board fast.

No day passes (24h/72h being phased out). No fare capping — DayCap runs 06:00–midnight only. Night buses are outside the cap window.

Standard low-floor city buses with pull-down ramps. Wheelchair spaces available.

Standard fleet includes free onboard WiFi. Good for checking maps or calling a ride if you miss your stop.

Front racks exist but drivers often refuse bikes on night routes (safety, crowds). Light bags/backpacks fine. No luggage compartments.

Buses go outbound only. If you need to catch it mid-route, track it live in the Klapp app — they don't follow a published suburban timetable.

Widely available downtown. If you miss the 02:25 or 03:45 departure, a scooter is often faster/cheaper than waiting 65+ min in the cold. Download the Hopp app beforehand.

Taxis queue at Lækjartorg and Austurstræti. Apps: Hreyfill, BSR. Expensive but reliable for suburbs not on night routes.

If you live near Ártún (east), Hamraborg (Kópavogur), or Mjódd, you can ride to the hub and walk/scooter the last km.
