🏔️ Nearby Sights

Notable places within about 40 km — shown as straight-line (air) distance, not travel distance

Harpa Concert Hall 0.1 km away (air distance)

Harpa is a striking concert hall and conference centre on the edge of Reykjavík's old harbour. Its glass façade is made of faceted, honeycomb-like panels that catch the changing northern light and shift colour with the sky and the sea. Inside, the lobby is open to everyone and has cafés, shops and sweeping views over the bay.

Sun Voyager (Sólfar) 0.2 km away (air distance)

Made by the sculptor Jón Gunnar Árnason and unveiled in 1990 for Reykjavík's 200th anniversary, it is often described as a Viking ship. The artist himself saw it as a dream boat, an ode to the sun and a symbol of hope, progress and undiscovered territory. The work was cast in steel and sits on a granite base.

Whales of Iceland 0.7 km away (air distance)

The models are made to scale and show species from small porpoises to the largest animal on Earth. The exhibition also touches on how whales are studied and protected. Iceland's waters are rich in whales, and several species can be spotted on whale-watching tours leaving from Reykjavík during the summer.
