Keflavík Town Centre
Downtown Keflavík is a compact old fishing town on the Reykjanes peninsula, distinct from the airport itself, with a harbour, local shops, and a slower pace than the tourist routes passing nearby.
📍 toward the north-west of Keflavík Town Centre.
This is a genuine working town rather than a tourist stop, useful if you want a quieter, more local base near the airport.

Garðskagi is a favourite spot for birdwatching, especially during spring and autumn migrations, and for sunsets that turn the sky orange and pink. On clear winter nights it is a good place to see the northern lights. A small museum and café stand by the lighthouses. Bring warm, windproof clothes, since it is almost always breezy.
The Bridge Between Continents is a small footbridge over a rift in the lava landscape of the Reykjanes peninsula. Standing on it, you can symbolically cross from the North American plate to the Eurasian plate in a few steps. The scene is a stretch of rugged, windswept lava, with the ocean in the distance.
The lagoon was formed by outflow from the nearby Svartsengi geothermal power plant, which uses superheated water drawn from deep below the lava field. Its colour comes from dissolved silica and algae. People soon discovered that bathing in the water seemed to help skin conditions, and a spa grew up around it. The water is renewed regularly.
