Fossvogur & Skerjafjörður
This stop serves the Fossvogur/Skerjafjörður area, home to Reykjavík University and the domestic airport — a green, low-density part of the city popular for walking and cycling paths along the shore.
📍 toward the west of Fossvogur & Skerjafjörður.
The Fossvogur cemetery and valley park is one of the greener, quieter walking routes in the capital area.
Notable places within about 40 km — shown as straight-line (air) distance, not travel distance
The site was once a farm owned by the medieval chieftain and writer Snorri Sturluson, and later a base for Danish officials. The house itself dates from the 18th century. It has served as the presidential residence since the early 1940s, around the time Iceland became an independent republic, which makes it an important symbol of the country's independence.
Sky Lagoon is a modern geothermal spa on the Kársnes shoreline in Kópavogur, built into the coastal rocks. Its infinity-edge pool looks straight out over the North Atlantic, so soaking in the warm water feels like drifting toward the horizon. There are saunas, a cold plunge and a bar within the facility.
In the middle of the capital, Tjörnin is a calm pond where the city's birdlife gathers, and a path circles the water past colourful houses, the city hall and the old Iðnó theatre. On quiet days the reflections of the buildings fill the surface, and in summer the air is full of birdsong.
