Laugardalur
This stop serves Laugardalur, the geothermal valley that gave Reykjavík its name — historically where the city's laundry was washed in hot springs, now a park-and-recreation district with the national football stadium and the city's biggest pool.
📍 toward the south-west of Laugardalur.
Laugardalslaug is the largest pool in Reykjavík, with more slides and a bigger hot-pot area than the smaller neighbourhood pools.

Joining locals in the hot pots is one of the most authentic things you can do in the city; bring a swimsuit and shower thoroughly first, as is the custom. The botanical garden is a peaceful stop in summer, and you could spend half a day in the area, especially with children. It is easy to reach by bus.
Perlan sits on top of Öskjuhlíð hill, crowned with a shimmering glass dome built on six giant hot water tanks. Inside, the museum explores Iceland's natural wonders with interactive exhibits, a planetarium and a real indoor ice cave. A viewing deck wraps around the dome, giving wide views over Reykjavík, the sea and the mountains.
It was built in 1909 for a French consul and later was home to a poet before being bought by the city. In October 1986 US president Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev met here, in talks often seen as a step toward ending the Cold War. Local stories also say that the house is haunted by a ghost.
